haha number 3 looks like the stepford wives night out...
i reckon all the brides did it on purpose, so they'd look beautiful by comparison.

Yeah! Good thinking minx lol. Did you see those shiny gold things? Can you imagine what the ceremony would have been like? The guests would have all needed sunglasses!

My sister-in-law had a Brazilian themed wedding and made her bridesmaids were ruffles and turbans with fake fruit on top ala Carmen Miranda.
It was scary hideous... The men had to wear rumba shirts in purple and orange with sandals. My poor husband had to wear a ruffled shirt because he played guitar for the ceremony. I can't believe he actually wore it except for the fact that he really loves his brother. (I suspect a little begging happened) Brides can be mean...heh.

OMG, if I had to wear a turban I think I'd be conveniently ill on the day!
My sister made us wear a pink version of that first dress in photo series. I thought it was gorgeous, but then again it was the late eighties. I wanted low-key at my wedding. I suggested people just wear whatever they like - buy an outfit they will be able to wear again at some time.

i am literally lmao here dani - the thought of fruit on the bridesmaids heads is just too funny... i think your hubby got off lightly with the ruffled shirt......

Oh, do show a photo..haha.
I eloped, but I had gotten married the conventional way I would have done what you did, Lucy..let people wear what they want. My sister gave her us bridesmaids a swatch of lavendar and just said choose a dress close to this shade. I once did turn down being a bridesmaid because I knew the dresses were gonna be orange with green sequins. The kickah..usually the bridesmaids fork over their own cash for such a hideous creation. I think sometimes brides go nutty from the stress and believe these dresses are a truly great choice.

okay - here is a very miserable me, as bridesmaid. miserable, because that dress was made out of scratchy papery material and i hated it!!!!
